First integration meeting between Agricultural Markets Information Systems (AMIS) of the Inter-Andean Region

In the last decade, agricultural market information in the Andean region has become an important tool in decision-making, both for the private sector and the public sector.

In the last decade, agricultural market information in the Andean region has become an important tool in decision-making, both for the private sector and the public sector. Country members have made great efforts to promote access to information within the supply chain, the use of text messages, price bulletins, publications data through the website, among others.

Currently, Agricultural Markets Information Systems (AMIS) of the Inter-Andean Region have advanced systems of data collection that allow a timely and quality information that can be obtained through the websites of the ministries of agriculture. From this arises the need for exchange of information, and at the same time, invite other countries to join the circuit online exchange price data.

Within this context, on 13 and 14 of August the first meeting of interoperability between AMIS of the Andean region will be held in Quito.  On this event delegates from Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador will participate. Our country will host of the event, with the representation of market researchers from Guayaquil, Cuenca and frontier markets, in addition to the administrator of SINAGAP, national leader of market research and pricing analysis.

The event leader and representative of the Market Information Organization of the Americas (MIOA) in the Andean region, is Mat. Victor Bucheli, who also serves as general coordinator of the national information system of the CGSIN.

The objective of this project is to implement, on a technology level, the interconnection of the AMIS´ database of the member countries in the Andean region, in order to extract information from a group of products of interest and to put it available to users through various media. Collaterally, this effort will contribute to strengthen institutional AMIS, by providing pricing information at the level of the Andean Region.
