Strengthening the agricultural information systems in the Americas to bring more transparency to the markets. This is one of the objectives of the XIII Annual Meeting of the Market Information Organization of the Americas (MIOA), to be held in Brazil, November 5th -7th .
The opening ceremony will be open to the press (*) and will be attended by the President of MIOA, Terry Long, Minister of Agriculture and Brazilian Supply, Neri Geller, president of the National Supply Company (Conab), Rubens Rodrigues and representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in Brazil, Manuel Otero.
At the meeting, the Director of Agricultural Policy and Information Conab, João Marcelo Intini, will present the actions taken by the federal government in the field of agricultural policy and provision, focusing on the importance of agricultural information. Other initiatives of the Brazilian government will also be presented to show how the sector is developing in the country.
According to the Manager of Technical Information of the Company and delegate of Brazil in MIOA, Edna Matsunaga, a regular meeting of this group promotes integration and data exchange and knowledge among the 33 member countries of the Organization. "Providing quality information is one of the main tools for the development of public policy that focuses on developing countries," she says.
In addition to presentations from Brazil, a representative of Brazil in the G-20 will expose the agricultural information system used by the Group. Participants can also check how data collection is done by the Department of Agriculture of the United States (USDA).
